For three decades, the Suzuki-Orff School of Music has been committed to exceptional arts education, delivering a comprehensive sequential music program that serves as a catalyst to help all children reach their greatest potential. Suzuki-Orff's on-site programs and outreach programs in the Chicago Public Schools provide high-quality, year long arts education to thousands of children each week. In keeping with our mission, we provide music education to all children and families regardless of the environmental, economic, or cultural challenges they may face each day.
Our on-site program at our West Town school brings together families from a wide range of cultural backgrounds. Our innovative curricula:
- Advance children's musical abilities;
- Nurture creativity and self-expression;
- Develop music and critical thinking skills;
- Accelerate academic achievement; and,
- Incorporate family as an integral part of a child's learning experience.
Our carefully designed program:
- Holistically enhances the cognitive and social development of each student
- Provides beginning music instruction for aspiring adult students; and
- Cultivates whole school change through outreach initiatives that facilitate teacher involvement, parent participation, community building, and long-term arts programming in low-income public schools as well as private schools.
More than 3,000 children each week, from the age of 6 months and up, attain the benefits of music education at The Suzuki-Orff School of Music's on-site school and through our outreach programs to low-income communities in Chicago Public Schools. Additional programs are provided to local private schools with a focus on enrichment programs for children with special needs.
