Programs For Families

Suzuki music education was conceptualized by Dr. Shinichi Suzuki, who believed that the ability to learn music is innate and realized through a nurturing environment, "through exposure, imitation, encouragement" and repetition. In other words, the way a child learns to speak a language can be applied to music education.
The Orff-Schulwerk method was developed by Carl Orff, using a child's natural, playful impulses toward movement and vocal expression to teach musical concepts. It is through interactive, group-oriented exercises that students learn to explore and internalize beat, rhythm, and pitch. Once familiar with these exercises, students progress to playing xylophones and percussion instruments. Eventually, this leads to note reading and musicianship.
To ensure a well-rounded music education, the Suzuki-Orff School of Music integrates the Orff method with Suzuki instruction through a sequential, age-appropriate program to develop traditional musicianship skills simultaneously with the "mother tongue" imitative approach to learning.
Our onsite programs include BabySTEPS, our early childhood program, Orff classes, and Suzuki instrumental instruction on violin, viola, cello, flute, piano, guitar, and voice.
